Kínderwunsch/
Substantiv, maskulin, [der]
1. the desire or wish to have own children
2. the wish of a child
A physical performance about the desire of two men becoming fathers.
My graduation piece, created during a residency at the collective ZUHAUSE, Groningen.
We performed Kinderwunsch also at the Amsterdam FRINGE Festival 2019.
Kinderwunsch is a very poetic performance about the desire for men to carry and birth a child. […] The synergy between the two men and the child was great and showed an unpolished, vulnerable beauty. The jury enjoyed the soundscape and the visual images. […] The performance was very emotionally moving and fringy, with an interesting theme and beautiful, fragile images.
– Juryrapport FRINGE
A visit to Kinderwunsch by Kollektiv Cahrpit underlines the wide variety of forms at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival. Two men carry a little boy, a teenager, who describes his position as if he were in the womb. In elongated, loving movements, a point is made visually about their desire to have children.
